Frequently asked questions

Straight answers, plainly put.

The questions founders ask us most, about the Lab, the advisory practice, how we charge, and what we can and cannot do.

About Capfluent

What does Capfluent actually do?

Capfluent is a finance-first strategic finance and capital advisory practice for founder-led companies. We help you make confident capital decisions and build lasting equity value, through a relationship-driven advisory ladder and the Denver-based Capital Fluency Lab. The practice is led by LeVon Terry.

What does "finance-first, not accounting-first" mean?

Accounting tells you what already happened. Finance-first work is forward-looking: what a decision means for your value, your options, and your next move. We lead with capital strategy and CFO-level judgment. Accounting supports that decision, and it is never the headline.

Who is Capfluent for?

Two audiences. The advisory practice serves established founder-led companies, roughly $5M to $25M in revenue, working nationwide. The Capital Fluency Lab is for earlier-stage founders in the Denver metro who want to build capital fluency before they need it.

The Capital Fluency Lab

What is the Capital Fluency Lab?

A cohort program that turns dilution, debt, venture capital, and non-dilutive funding into decisions you can actually make. It runs four sessions over four months, each pairing a capital concept with a hands-on deliverable and a live panel of real capital providers. You leave with a 12-month Capital Plan. The full Capital Fluency Lab overview walks through each session.

Is this just another pitch class?

No. Each session puts a real lender, investor, or capital partner in the room with you, and you leave with a plan rather than notes. It is not a lecture and not a fundraising bootcamp.

I am not raising money right now. Should I still join?

That is exactly the right time. The best capital decisions are never made for the first time under pressure. The Federal Reserve Small Business Credit Survey found that of the firms which applied for financing, only 42% received the full amount and 22% received none. A plan built ahead of time is what puts you in the 42%.

What does the Lab cost, and how do I join?

Tuition is $1,995 for the full cohort and the Capital Plan you build in it. You start by filling out a short application so we can check timing and fit, whenever you are ready.

The advisory practice

I already have an accountant and a bookkeeper. Why would I need you?

Accounting tells you what happened. We are finance-first, so we help you decide what to do next: capital readiness, valuation and scenario modeling, and investor and lender relations. That is the work our fractional CFO leadership tier is built for.

How are you different from other Denver fractional CFO shops?

Most fractional CFO shops are accounting-first with strategy bolted on. LeVon spent two decades in private equity and investment banking, and brings that rigor to your side of the table, plus the judgment a model cannot give you. We do not sell hours; we scope the engagement to the decision in front of you.

How are engagements structured, and where do you work?

Engagements are bespoke and scoped to your decision, not sold as a fixed menu or a block of hours. The advisory ladder runs Grow, then Compound, then Unlock, and you enter at the tier that fits. Advisory clients work with us nationwide; the Lab is in-person in Denver.

Capital, fees & compliance

Do you raise capital or take a percentage of a deal?

No. Capfluent does not raise, place, or broker capital. We teach capital options in the Lab and advise on them in the advisory practice; we never execute a raise. Where we support an exit, fees are flat engagement fees, never a percentage of transaction value, so your interests and ours stay aligned.

Do you help with an exit or a sale?

Yes, through Unlock, our exit and sell-side advisory. It is offered to existing Grow and Compound clients, on flat engagement fees, as advisory and execution support rather than brokering. If an exit is on your horizon, start a conversation and we will walk through what that support looks like.

Are you a registered investment adviser, a broker-dealer, or a CPA firm?

No. Capfluent provides advisory services only. It is not a registered investment adviser or broker-dealer, and nothing on this site is investment, legal, or tax advice. We do not hold out CPA, CFA, or CFP credentials.

Getting started

How do I begin?

If you want an ongoing advisory partner, start with a strategy call and bring the decision you are weighing. If you are earlier stage and want to build capital fluency first, apply to the Lab. The two paths stay separate, and neither is a prerequisite for the other.

What is a first call actually like?

It is a working conversation, not a sales pitch. You bring the capital or finance question on your mind, we pressure-test it together, and we tell you plainly whether Capfluent is the right partner for it.

Advisory only. Not investment, legal, or tax advice.

Still have a question?

Book a strategy call and ask it directly. We would rather answer plainly than have you guess.

Capfluent provides advisory services only. It is not a registered investment adviser or broker-dealer, and nothing here is investment, legal, or tax advice.
